Clay Electric Cooperative AC Rebates

Members of Clay Electric Cooperative, a non-profit electric co-op, receive electricity at cost – and Clay Electric’s cost of power is among the lowest in the state. Comparison surveys throughout 2007 indicated that Clay Electric’s residential rate for 1000 kWh was lower than approximately 90 percent of the 52 electric utilities surveyed.

In addition to attractive rates for running your HVAC system, Clay Electric Cooperative also offers rebates for homeowners that purchase energy efficient systems.  AC rebates vary based on a combination of SEER efficiency ratings and the size of the unit, measured in BTU’s.  SEER ratings reflect overall system efficiency on a seasonal basis – the more efficient the system (the higher the SEER), the higher the rebate.

Residential HVAC systems in the U.S. that are manufactured after 2005 are required to have a minimum SEER rating of 13.  To encourage even greater energy efficiency, Clay Electric Co-op offers rebates on systems with SEER ratings of 14.0 and above.  With a total of five different SEER ratings and eight different unit size levels, there are 40 possible rebate possibilities, with overall rebates ranging between $50 and $500.

As an example, HVAC systems with the lowest eligible SEER rating (14.0 SEER) and the smallest size (<12,000 BTU’s) will receive a rebate of $50.  In contrast, 18.0+SEER rated systems, sized at 60,000 BTUs are eligible for a $500 rebate.
